Caldwell County to Host Household Hazardous Way Day on October 3

Caldwell County will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event on Saturday, October 3, from 8 am until noon at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.

This free one-day event gives Caldwell County residents the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste, pesticides, electronics, and unwanted medications. They can also bring documents that need to be shredded.

“We hope people will take advantage of this event to properly dispose of items that we do not accept at our convenience sites,” said Public Facilities Director Isaac Bush.

Certified companies, who will ensure proper handling and disposal of the waste collected, will be on site accepting items such as household cleaners, paint products, automotive products, pesticides, fertilizers, kerosene, batteries, pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, and fluorescent tubes.

In addition to household hazardous waste, the Register of Deeds will also offer free document shredding, and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office will take unwanted medications and prescription drugs.

For more information about the event, which is co-sponsored by NCDA&CS, Caldwell County Register of Deeds, North Carolina Cooperative Extension STAT, and EcoFlow, visit caldwellcountync.info/HHWD.
